Self storage auctions can be a fantastic way to find incredible deals on all kinds of items. These auctions happen when a customer fails to pay for their unit for an extended period of time. While rules and regulations differ from state to state, and even facility to facility, most all self storage businesses will end up auctioning the contents of a unit if they don't get paid within a specified period of time. You might wonder why anyone would allow this to happen to their belongings.

One reason is criminal activity. If someone who is, for example, dealing drugs needs a place to store profits or inventory without a paper trail, a self storage unit can be the ideal choice. If you've never been to one of these auctions before, you're in for an interesting experience. Sometimes, you'll be clearly shown and told what you're bidding on. Other times, you might end up bidding on a sealed box with contents that are a mystery.

Self storage auctions are not just a way to find discount merchandise, they're a way to make a profit. Many people find that they are able to resell the items they buy at these auctions for a lot more than they paid. If you're interested in reselling things you bought at one of these auctions, there are several ways to do that. You can advertise in your local paper, or even try an online auction site like Ebay. Once you experience the thrill of buying cheap merchandise at your first storage unit auction, you'll most likely want to do it again and again!
